The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is a feast that was first observed in the 13th century, and traditionally it involves a eucharistic procession around the parish. Along with Thomas Aquinas, one of the feast day’s founders was a Belgian canoness and mystic named Juliana of Liège who led many groups of lay and consecrated women in eucharistic devotions. She received several visions of Christ, who asked her to plead for the institution of this feast day. She kept her visions secret for many years, but when she began to speak about what she had seen it ignited renewed devotion to the Eucharist and contributed to this feast day being celebrated throughout the Latin Church. You can read more about her life via this link from the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas: https://diocesecc.org/news/a-woman-of-strength-st-juliana-of-liege
The Liturgy Committee has not received any visions, but we are very excited to invite everyone (and your friends!) to participate in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary’s 2024 Corpus Christi procession!
Following the distribution of communion at Mass on June 2, the Body of Christ will process from the church along Grant St. to Parkdale, left to Wellington St. W. for Benediction on the lawn at the front of the building, and then back along McCormick St. and Grant St. to the church for the concluding rites. Everyone is invited to either walk with the procession or to remain praying in the church until the procession returns. This is a beautiful opportunity to bring the Body of Christ out of the church’s doors and into our neighbourhood, so we hope you will joyfully participate!
